Shimabara Castle,

of the Azuchi-Momoyama architectural style.

The historical heritage of the Shimabara Clan, which has existed for 250 years since the castle was built, Christian historical documents, and works by local artist Nishimochi Kitamura are also on display. The volcano also erupted for the first time in 198 years, causing great damage and loss of precious lives. The museum provides information on Shimabara from the past to the present, including materials on the "Heisei 3 Unzen Fugendake Eruption Disaster".
