Sakura Sakura Project “Shimabara Castle Koto Class
The new school year has started and children newly promoted to the third grade of elementary school are now eligible.
Shimabara Castle has started a Koto (Japanese stringed instrument) class on July 23, 2022.
The target audience is from third grade elementary school students!※ Participation by adults has also become possible from this fiscal year!
As of the end of March of Reiwa 3 (2021), 37 people are participating ♪
To coincide with the first holding of the National Cultural Festival ‘Nagasaki Peace Culture Festival 2025’ in Nagasaki Prefecture in Reiwa 7, we aim to hold a koto (Japanese harp) concert in the autumn of Reiwa 7!!
If you are interested, please join us!
We are also accepting donations of kotos (koto) that are no longer in use.
We are waiting for those who would like to use them for children!
To commemorate the 400th anniversary of the construction of Shimabara Castle, an event was held on April 6th, 2024 (Saturday), featuring a koto workshop concert at Shimabara Castle.
Amidst the watchful eyes of many guests, we conducted a challenge of the ‘Sakura Sakura Relay Performance’ by 53 participants, a presentation by students, a performance by a female gidayu (narrative singing) artist, and a model performance of ‘Koto Music Kasumi Kai’ by instructor Ms. Ito Kasumi.

Elementary school 3rd graders and above (both boys and girls are welcome).
◎ Schedule
Twice a month (2nd and 4th Saturdays)
- Morning class 10:00-12:00
- Afternoon class: 13:30-15:30
- Please contact us if your schedule does not work out due to other lessons, etc.
