Notice of Shimabara Castle Closure due to Repair Work on the Keep

Due to the renovation of the flooring and LED lighting in Shimabara Castle’s keep, the museum will be closed during the following period.

Closed: November 27 (Mon.) – December 18 (Mon.), 2023 (tentative)
※Castle Monster,” a mystery-solving castle escape game scheduled to be held on November 25 (Sat.), will be held as scheduled.
※All buildings, including the castle tower, will be closed during this period. However, the Honmaru stores (except for the Castle Teahouse) will be open.
※The parking lot will be open during this period, but there will be construction vehicles entering and exiting the lot. Please be careful when entering by car.

◆The following items sold at the ticket office at the entrance of the castle tower will not be available during the closure period.

The following items will not be sold at the entrance ticket office of the castle tower during the period of closure: – Castle Seal – Busho Seal – Castle Seal Book – MR Amakusa Shiro goods – Castle Card – Megurin Ticket – Meguchari (rental bicycle)

※During the closure period, sales of Megurin tickets will be suspended at all sales locations in the city (Shimabara Castle Keep, Shimabara Port Tourist Information Center, Shimabara Station Tourist Information Center, and Seiryutei Tourist Information Center).
※Meguchari (rental bicycles) cannot be rented or dropped off at Shimabara Castle.

Rental and drop-off of Meguchari (rental bicycles) are available at other rental offices (Shimabara Port Tourist Information Center, Shimabara Station Tourist Information Center, and Seiryutei Tourist Information Center) as usual.

During the period when the castle keep is closed, the display will be relocated to the Shimabara Castle Honmaru store.
